Crockett-Deane Ballet a Great Success!
Crockett-Deane Ballet Company is pleased to announce the recent Grant Award from the Sacramento City Cultural Arts Awards Program. Along with many other local Sacramento art organizations, Crockett-Deane Ballet was awarded a portion of the $688,000 approved funding from Sacramento City Council and the Sacramento County Council. The Sacramento Ballet Association also received funding along with other ballet companies in the area.
The grants are significant since California Arts Council is almost non-existent in funding. Rhyena Halpern, the grants and cultural programs coordinator for the arts commission has said the grants are significant. "They are one of the few grants you can get for operating expenses," she said in a December 23, 2004 article in the Sacramento Bee.
The grants are funneled through the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission. The commission's panel reviews the applications and through a series of review criteria, use a formula based on rankings and amounts available for funding.
Thank you to the Arts Commission!
