The Deane Dance Center through Allyson Deane and Don Schwennesen (former dancers with the San Francisco Ballet Company) is carrying forward the tradition of excellence in teaching ballet begun by Miss Deane's parents, Deane and Barbara Crockett (founders of the Sacramento Ballet).
From ages 3 through 17 years old, our school highlights ballet techniques in a combined genre that encompasses Cecchetti Method, Vaganova, RAD & SAB. Opportunities for more accomplished dancers include advance placement classes for pointe work and participation in the non-profit Crockett-Deane Ballet Company. Guest teachers and master classes are also included in our curriculum. Annual Ballet Performances highlighting dancers from the school and the pre-professional company also include local participants from the Sacramento Ballet Company and other professional dancers from around the world.
And now in keeping with the tradition begun many years ago by Crockett Dance Studio, DDC has added a tap department, headed by the very talented and accomplished Richard Walters. Deane Dance Center students may add another facet to their ballet and dance training. Please note that tap classes are also open to the dance student without participating in the ballet programs. In addition, adult programs are available in ballet, tap, jazz and yoga.
Be A Team Player! Ballet is a beautiful art form and offers benefits to all children who participate in it. It is not a competitive sport and no one parent or child is better than the other. They all have talents and gifts and it is the combination of those talents that makes ballet such a beautiful thing to watch. At DDC, we are committed to supporting each and every child in their quest to master the art of ballet. We ask that you and your children do the same. Please support each dancer in your child's level or company with words of encouragement and teach your children to do the same.
