Crockett-Deane Ballet Company

The Crockett-Deane Ballet is a non-profit organization developed soley for the purpose of Arts Education for young people.

Crockett-Deane Ballet was founded in 1996 as an extension of the Deane Dance Center to give it's beautiful young dancers more performing opportunities. CDB is a company based on the classical ballet tradition with a contingent commitment to a contemporary ballet style. Since it's inception, this young company has been able to produce, The Story of Sleeping Beauty, Sweet Coppelia and The Story of Noah's Ark, all of which have given many challenging roles to all Company Members to develop and enhance their growing techniques.

The company has had the opportunity to participate in a variety of venues in it's short career including, "Pops in The Park," Golden State Museum, Mercy McMahon Home, and was happy to be asked to spend the past Thanksiving morning dancing at the Salvation Army. CDB has also been honored to be invited to dance on two separate occasions with the Mendocino Ballet directed by Mary Knight.

Crockett-Deane Ballet has at its helm, Director and choreographer, Don Schwennesen who received his training with Antony Tudor and Eugene Loring at UC Irvine before joining the San Francisco Ballet Company and enjoying a successful career as one of it's soloists. He also spent two years as a member of Pacific Northwest Ballet and eight years with the Oakland Ballet Company. Mr. Schwennesen has had two of his ballets shown at Regional Dance America/Pacific festivals. His wife, Allyson Deane, comes from the Crockett Dance Studio (Deane and Barbara Crockett) and the Sacramento Civic Ballet tradition. She met her husband, Don in the San Francisco Ballet Company where she became a principal dancer. Together, they opened the Deane Dance Center in Sacramento, California in 1994.

The Crockett-Deane Ballet, its Directors, and dancers are very happy and excited to be an "Honor Company" of RDA/Pacific. They are looking forward to many productive years in this illustrious organization!
